LOCATION AND DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT
The Lake Houston Pump Station (LHPS) is a critical component of the SJRA Highlands Division’s raw water system. The pump station is operated 24/7, 365 days/year, in order to provide raw water to industrial, municipal, and irrigation customers in East Harris County. An existing SJRA owned operator residence at the site has reached the end of its useful life. In addition, SJRA is transitioning to remote operations of the pump station. Due to the criticality of the pump station’s operations, even during significant storm events, a remote operations center is necessary in order to house staff during storm events. The project generally includes a proposed remote operations center, new utilities including septic and a water well, site security, drainage and slope protection, and other minor site improvements. In addition, the remote operations center will include a future electrical room to provide for new switchgears and appurtenances when SJRA replaces pumps and motors as part of a future project. Collectively, the proposed Remote Operations Center and various site improvements will provide for reliable and efficient operations of the LHPS.
