The work to be performed under this contract consists of the Carbon Pump Station Improvements including a new 33 MGD pump station with five horizontal split case pumps, motors and VFDs (including one alternate bid), and supporting appurtenances. The project also includes 1,845 LF of 24-, 36- and 42-inch water lines with associated appurtenances and demolition of the existing Carbon Pump Station facilities, located at 4041 Carbon Road Irving, TX 75038 The City of Irving strongly encourages bidders to submit their response to this bid electronically. Question	Plan sheet A-13. Section 1 calls out a French drain system at the foundation of the pipe gallery. However, this piping is not shown elsewhere, will this be required and where does the system drain too?
Answer	French drain is not needed and was included in error. All references to french drains to be removed.

Question	Plan sheet A-3. Note 20 call out new chain link fencing along the west property line. Is the contractor required to replace the entire existing chain link fence along the west property line?
Answer	Yes, all fence along the property line must be 8-ft chain link fence.

Question	Plan sheet DT-2. Detail 7 requires CLSM embedment for C303 pipe that has 12ft of cover or greater. Confirm that cover is measured from the top of the pipe to existing grade. If confirmed, the only section of pipe meeting this requirement is the offsite 36” pipe from approximately stations 4+00 to 6+00. Confirm that this is the only section of pipe that the engineer will require CLSM embedment.
Answer	This is measured from the top of pipe to existing grade. There are areas where the 24" pipe crosses Carbon Road that exceed this depth, as well as the 36" Discharge Pipeline B. Other specific areas requiring flowable fill are noted in plans (C-26, C-31, etc.)

Question	Specification 41-22-13.13. Section 2.07.B states that grease fittings shall extend to the service platform. However, a service platform is not specified nor typical of a single girder bridge crane. Confirm if a service platform will be required.

Question	Specification 02-96-00. Section 3.03 lists the average and peak flows. Are flows available for each bypass location so the bypass system can more accurately designed?

Question	Bid Item B3 and B4. Spec section 01-29-01 1.04.B Item B3 states that this item shall consist of additional vertical linear footage for depths greater than 26vf, and that drilled shafts depths less than or equal to 26vf are subsidiary to Item B2. Plan sheet S-10 lists the drilled shaft schedule and required penetration for each shaft designation. Can the drilled shaft bid item be simplified and clarified to include the entire footage of the drilled shafts (26vf plus penetration per schedule) and not just overages?
Answer	At this time, this modification is not anticipated to the bid form.

Answer	The City does not have any additional adjacent areas that may be used. Please see note 6 on G-10.

Question	Is the efficiency evaluation and penalty requirement for the 4 pumps also required for the 5th pump (alternate)?
Answer	The efficiency evaluation will not be separately performed for the 5th pump. If included, the 5th pump will be selected based on the efficiency evaluation of the 4 pumps.
