Description

The Army Contracting Command-Redstone Arsenal-Corpus Christi Army Depot, Contracting Office in Corpus Christi, Texas is issuing this sources sought as a means of conducting market research to identify potential sources that can supply end finishing machines in accordance with the guidance contained herein.



The result of this market research will contribute to determining the method of procurement. Based on the responses to this sources sought notice/market research, this requirement may be set-aside for small businesses (in full or in part) or procured through full and open competition. Telephone inquiries will not be accepted or acknowledged, and no feedback or evaluations will be provided to companies regarding submissions.

SALIENT CHARACTERISTICS




  1. Introduction: As part of CCAD’s Local manufacturing, the Tubing Shop (P64A40) produces locally manufactured tubes and pipes in support of CCAD’s mission of supporting our service men and women. These tubes and pipes need to be squared and deburred, flare at 37 degrees or 45 degrees. Tube and hose manufacturing in the tubing shop follows the below standards among others:


    1. MIL-STD-130 identification marking

    2. NAVAIR 01-1A-20

    3. SS9030





Industry standards for producing finished products are also followed per AN, JIC, SAE Hydraulic, ASME, and MS33584 and MS33660 specifications.




  1. General Characteristic: Equipment must meet the following characteristics in order to satisfy the shop’s requirements.


    1. Equipment shall be used in the Tubing shop specifically to remove sharp edges, bumps, raised edges, burrs and or seams from locally manufactured pipes and tubes.

    2. Equipment should be capable of being bolted or attached to a table of reasonable height (ergonomically) for artisan’s ease of use.

    3. Equipment shall not weigh more than 500lbs and capable of chamfering upstream and downstream tube ends

    4. Equipment shall be capable of OD and ID chamfering for both sides of the tube

      1. Squaring & Deburring: 0.25 inch to 2 inch OD for Annealed Ferrous, Stainless Steel and Non-ferrous.

      2. Flaring: 0.25 inch to 2 inch OD for Annealed Ferrous, Stainless Steel, and Non-ferrous

      3. Beading: 0.25 inch to 0.375 inch OD for Annealed Ferrous; Stainless Steel 0.5 inch to 1.5 inch OD , and Non-ferrous, 0.25 inch to 0.375 inch OD



    5. Equipment shall have capacities for Squaring and Deburring, Flaring, and Beading for annealed ferrous, nonferrous, as well as stainless steel.

    6. Equipment will have a variable speed drive up to 2000 RPM and a ¾ HP motor








  1. Safety: The End Finishing machine need to meet all industry standards safety requirements including but not limited to the following standards

    1. OSHA standard for 1910.212 – General Requirements for all machines

    2. OSHA standard 1910.212(a)(3) – Point of operation guarding

    3. ANSI B11.15-2001 (R2012) – Safety Requirements for Pipe, Tube, and Shape Bending Machines



  2. Electrical:

    1. 115V, 1-Phase, 60HZ electrical service.

    2. Equipment shall be equipped with a ¾HP motor with a variable speed up to 1800RPM

    3. Equipment shall have a digital RPM readout/tachometer



  3. Mechanical: Jaws closing method shall be by means of automatic air cylinder clamping with an air supply of 1 to 1/2 CFM at 75 to 100PSI.
