The 1st Armored Division (1AD) requires contractor support to provide a tactical oriented swimming course of instruction (COI). 1AD requires a professional instructor capable of providing basic and advanced-level tactical swimming instruction to unit

members. This training is vital to better prepare Soldiers for operations in aquatic domains.

The contractor shall provide non-personal services for a five (5) day tactical swimming course of instruction (COI) for up to 35 students per session. Training shall be broken up into two (2) sessions per day, a morning session, and an afternoon session. Each COI shall cover and provide the following:

• The Contractor shall provide a 1:20 instructor to student ratio. The total number of students shall be established no more than seven (7) days before a COI.


• Instruction in stroke efficiency, Instruction in open-water application, side stroke and pool fundamentals.


• Instruction in surface swimming with fins, wetsuits, training aids and other combat equipment.


• Practical application shall include both slick as well as in full military uniform and equipment.


• Upon completion of the level 1 course, Soldiers will have obtained the knowledge and skills to properly implement an aquatic strength and conditioning program with focus on injury prevention, rehabilitation and Soldier longevity at the unit level.


• Upon completion of the level 2 course, Soldiers will have obtained the knowledge and skills to successfully execute a simulated wet gap crossing of 50 meters of still water with uniform, personally assigned weapon and basic combat load of ammunition.
