Wood Chips for Playgrounds
Abstract:
This project is for the purchase, and delivery of PLAYGROUND WOOD CHIPS FOR VARIOUS PARKS IN HOUSTON-TX, in accordance with the specifications, terms and conditions specified in the solicitation.
Specifications: Specifications for Engineered Wood Fiber
1. The particles generally are ten (10) times longer than they are wide. Hardly any two fibers are identical in all dimensions and appearance.
2. Surfacing shall be IPEMA-CERTIFIED Engineered Wood Fiber. Standard wood chips or bark mulch will not be acceptable.
3. Supplier must provide test results for Engineered Wood Fiber for impact attenuation in accordance with
ASTM F 1292 Standard Specification for Impact Attenuation of Surface Systems Under and Around Playground Equipment. Results must be provided for 8” depth, 12” depth (new and 12-year-old) Engineered Wood Fiber Material.
4. Supplier must certify that product is virgin wood fiber and does not contain any ground pallets.
5. Supplier must provide test results for quality and purity of the Engineered Wood Fiber in accordance with
ASTM F 2075 Standard Specification for Engineered Wood Fiber for Use as a Playground Safety Surface Under and around
Playground Equipment
6. Supplier must provide test results for accessibility in accordance with ASTM F 1951 Standard Specification for Determination of Accessibility of Surface Systems Under and Around Playground Equipment.
7. Supplier must certify that the surface meets the intent of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
8. Supplier must provide written manufacturer’s 25-year (300 System), 20-year (200 System), or 15-year (100 System) warranty against loss of resiliency; lifetime warranty on FibarFelt fabric and FibarDrain drainage matrix.
9. The species of woods that are used are comprised of, but are not limited to; White Oak, Red Oak, Maple, Ash, Douglas Fir, Lodge Pole Pine, Cedar, Yellow Pine, or Poplar.
10. Engineered Wood Fiber color and particle size may vary.
11. Supplier shall certify that no chemical treatments or additives are present, and that the material is non-toxic.
12. Engineered Wood Fiber shall have less than 5% twigs, bark, leaf debris or other organic material incorporated within.
